My current job combines two of my passions: helping students become better journalists, and working with students and faculty in a newsroom every day to produce award-winning content. I've been at the University of Mississippi for almost four years; before that, I spent more than 20 years as a reporter and editor at metro dailies in Washington, D.C., California and Florida, and as an assistant professor in Chicago. Other than the little town in Missouri where I grew up, Oxford is the smallest place I've ever lived, but it's a treasure - great food, lots of culture, great people. Ole Miss is a place that is acknowledging its troubled past and moving forward.
