The issue of health care has been on the national agenda for some time, but not until the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in the United States did the issue of mental health come to the forefront of public awareness. The CDC recently released a report showing increases in teen and young adult suicide attempts in 2020-2021 compared to the previous year. Universities across the world are reporting increases in student mental health services. As students recover from loss of loved ones due to COVID-19, isolation from quarantines, and changing expectations of in-person versus virtual learning, both students and faculty need to increase awareness of mental health issues and resources in the upcoming year. This panel will explore research, advice, and initiatives to incorporate mental health awareness across campus.
